Please sir (universe)...can I have a break

I've realised that I really am a complete workaholic. I love what I do and I'm seriously passionate about my career, but sometimes I just don't know when to stop.

I have really been optimistic and done my best to keep my chin up, a smile on my face and to keep on at it ...it being the treadmill.
I am, however, exhausted.
It's not just about working my ass to the bone, I've had a hectic year so far.

2009 has thrown a lot at me and we're only in April. It's not a "woe-is-me" type of thing, but I do kinda feel like I'm being tested. I'm certainly not testing fate when I say: "What else do you wanna throw at me, huh? Huh? Huh? Huh? Guess what, you've thrown a lot my way and I'm still standing."
I am physically exhausted, emotionally drained and just basically done.
I have decided to do something very un-Blondie like and actually take leave. Even my bosses were shocked and I'm grateful they were so obliging.

I am going down to the coast for an entire week...Knysna to be exact and I'm so excited I might just have an orgasm on the spot.
I'm switching off my phone and I'm going to recharge my batteries and become human again.
I fly down on Monday morning and get back next Saturday.

Heaven.

I'm done.

I am exhausted. Done. Over it. I seriously need a holiday. I have finally put in leave. I can hardly wait!
I have two weeks and then I piss off down to the coast. I'm going to learn how to scuba dive and I'm going to get an overdose of Vitamin D hopefully that comes in the form of a bronzed tan.

I can't wait to smell the salty spray of the ocean, feel the beach sand between my toes and to finally be able to relax without having to worry about what I should be doing.
I am literally ticking the days off of my calendar. I'll be away from the 22nd December 2008 - 4th January 2009.

THIS is where I'm going:

PS> Thank you for your comments in my previous post - I don't know what to say really...I am just incredibly grateful for your support and kindness...I just don't know what to say other than Thank You!

I have

a tendency to put my "foot in my mouth." Not just any foot. No, I do it properly. I normallyput a stiletto boot in my mouth.
It's horrible.
We were invited to one of my man's very good friends for dinner. His girlfriend cooked the most amazing meal. I was in heaven. Prawns were involved. Need I say more?
I raise the fact that I saw my man's mate in a past issue of the Cleo Magazine and how great the photos were.
I immediately saw his girlfriend look uncomfortable and she said: "Yes, well, if he wants to parade around as a bachelor then it can always become a permanent arrangement."
Cold.
He has been entered into a magazine to be one of the sexy bachelors. It's now open for the public to vote.
I don't see a problem with that. Unmarried men are bachelors. It would be another story if he was being called an Eligible Bachelor.
Different thing.
Unbeknownst to me, they had been fighting about this before we arrived and now my man just phoned to tell me, that they continued to fight after we left and the whole of yesterday and now they've broken up.
I feel awful. I know I didn't have anything to do with it, sure, but I do feel bad.
Crap.

On a better note, I had the best day yesterday. We drove out to Magaliesberg, late of course, and as we got out the car, I immediately said: "Smell that?"
"Smell what?"
"Fresh air! Aaah! Breathe deeply!"

We walked inside (my man still wasn't too clear as to what the surprise was) and was immediately greeted by the Queen of Queens and a woman. We are very open to gay people, I have several gay friends actually, but once I told my man what was happening, he looked at me like: This man is going to be touching and rubbing me. Seriously?
He fluffed around us, all very politely but enthusiastically and told us "sweeties" to get undressed and come out as soon as we were done.
We went into 3 hours of pure bliss at the Spa. It was so wonderful to relax. The hot stone massage was fab but the dude kept talking through out and then he spoke about his children and wife. Stop the bus. *Record screech*
Say what?
It was rather amusing. I totally misjudged him, but seriously...he was incredible effeminate.
After our aromatherapy bath, massage, facial etc the conclusion was that the man absolutely LOVED IT. I don't care what they say, men LOVE being pampered.

Afterwards we drove around for quite a while until we eventually turned back and went across the road to a place called Ambrosia's. We sat near a log fire, drank Gluhwein and my man ate pizza and I had the chicken schnitzel.
I was so content.
The weather wasn't sunny like I had hoped, but it was damp, cold and misty. It was actually perfect. Who would have thought?

Weekend ahead

The South African Music Awards (SAMA's) are happening tonight at Sun City and this is the first year in four that I am not going. I'm pretty bummed about it, to be completely honest. I loved being put up in the main Sun City hotel, I, personally, loved the hamper basket we got with nuts, biltong, champagne, dried fruit etc. Yes, I know. Nerd.
I especially loved getting dressed up in a designer gown, having the hair and make-up done and feeling all very Hollywood for an evening. The ceremony is admittedly, a little boring, but I enjoy watching the performances.
It's the After Party that is always sensational. Last year was a sit down dinner on the Friday evening and then on the Saturday (night of the awards) we all party.
We aren't going because we were supposed to be going down to the coast for the long weekend and then I ended up having to work.

I personally hope: Karen Zoid, Freshly Ground, Flat Stanley, Koldproduk, Loyiso and Niemand win awards! They really deserve it!

I, on the other hand, have found something to do for Sunday. I am rather excited about this.
I have found a cute spa called Rose Well Spa. It's out in Magaliesberg and it looks absolutely gorgeous!
I have decided to surprise the man. I have told him that he needs to be up at 8am on Sunday because I'm taking him somewhere special.
I have booked this for the 2 of us:
  • Steam room.
  • Herbal milk and roses aromatherapy foam bath including dry exfoliation and scalp and foot rub.
  • Hot stone back, neck and shoulders massage.
  • Pamper Facial.

After that I am taking him for lunch. I have no idea where, but we'll be in the country and I'm looking forward to just taking a drive out and finding something quaint and relaxing! I can't wait.

I really hope the weather warms up. So much for the sunshine, today is cold, drizzling and grey.

I am happy it's the weekend though! Wooohoo!
