Fat and Lazy weekend

I feel like a beached whale at the moment. I'm sure it's all in my head, but seriously. I feel fat.
I haven't set foot in the gym in over 3 weeks. I went to Knysna and obviously the cute idea that I had of running on the beach every morning was laughable. Then I returned back to Joburg in a mini skirt and slops...that was like landing in the Antarctic dressed for Mauritius. It resulted in a change of weather cold that came to bite me in the nasal passages last week, so no gym for me either. This week I still haven't felt hundreds and have had early meetings every morning which has messed up any routine Sugar and I enjoyed. The worrying factor is that the longer you stay away from gym; the easier it is to get into that routine. Oh no. Having a new man is motivation actually. No one wants to see jiggly bits or dimples in the wrong places.
Seriously. Monday morning is going to be my new start... I'm going to get focused and sweat my ass/tummy off. Literally.
Oh and the colder it gets, the further away I am from choosing a salad for lunch. Bring me hot chocolate, warm stews and warm comfort food. This is really not helping.

It's the weekend and I have no plans. It's weird actually. I know what I'm doing on Sunday morning...I'm working. I know that tomorrow I am going to visit Blondie 2...she went in for an operation so I'm going to bring her flowers and sit with her while the painkillers set in.
Poor thing.
Other than that, however, I have nothing on. It's really nice actually.

I hope you have a brilliant weekend.
xx

Good times

I went to the opening of exclusive new 5-Star International Radisson SAS Hotel Sandton. This launch was absolutely fantastic and they seriously spared no expense whatsoever.
We were all taken to the 12th floor where speeches were made, Moet champagne flowed and photographers flash bulbs were over excited!

We could help ourselves to the Moet Champagne Dress

The hotel really is quite exquisite in decor, space and pure luxury.
Special K and I bumped into Marcus Brewster, who leaned in as if he had a secret that could freeze time and said:
“Blondie, if you go one floor up, they have lobster and more Moet.” pointing at my empty flute, “And if you go down one floor the spa is there with a little goody bag!”
Oh what to do; what to do? LOL

The 13th floor was sensational. I have NEVER seen a spread of food like that in my life. Chefs were making fresh pasta and other dishes from the ingredients set out. One of the things that Special K and I wanted to take home was a huge whole uncut cheese, that had been hollowed out and filled with grated parmesan cheese. Presentation was incredible!! There was a Thai section, antipasti section with artichokes, cold pasta dishes and various types of olives and sundried tomatos. The Seafood section (my favourite) had some of the most delicious sushi I have ever tasted, there were oysters and crab, lobster and crayfish, melt in your mouth salmon, mini mussle pots.

This was the chef that prepared my lobster!

HEAVEN. I believe there was a dessert table, but I didn’t look too hard for it. I wanted to (being president of the sweet tooth society and all that) but I am on a Get-Thin-Mission.

We finally got to go down to the 11th floor and that beautiful aromatherapy smell wafted into our nostrils. Special K and I both turned to each other and dreamily said: “Ah, the smell!”
I hope heaven looks like this spa. It is so incredible and I can honestly say I have never seen anything like this! I have booked for after pay day and Special K told me she’s going to be doing a lot of hinting considering their anniversary is coming up.

We went back upstairs, goody bag in hand and spoke to various people, that we (sadly) only ever see at these types of functions. It was incredibly hot inside and while I love heat, when it starts to get too hot, my body can’t handle it! I started to feel really faint and my skin was prickling.
Special K took one look at me and agreed that we should leave. She got me to the car and put the air con on full blast. She just knows. As soon as I started to cool down, I started to feel better.

Today I’m going to a spinning class at 1pm.

I've also been getting messages from Europe Boy asking me for a lunch or coffee... I don't know. Perhaps I should just go for a coffee. I just don't know anymore.

Sex and the City Movie Premier

I have 4 words, followed by 2.

Sex and the City - Unbelievably Awesome!

I was blown away at the entire event. It was really well done! The decor was sensational, there were chinese take-out boxes (very SATC), New York hotdogs and cosmopolitans doing the rounds.
Everyone really dressed up for the chic Sex and the City theme and I ejoyed seeing people in the industry again. It's a pity how we all wait for things like these to pop up.

It was eventually time for us to head off to the big screen and I could hardly contain myself. We all scrambled to get a good seat in Monte Casino's Il Grande cinema. We marched (elegantly) right to the back. There was popcorn, Appletizers and cosmos.
I just couldn't wait for it to start and when the lights went down I squealed. Yes. It even surprised me. I bloody well squealed. Loudly. A real girly: Eeeeeeeeeeehhh!!!
Everyone giggled and I was glad the lights were down so they couldn't really see who it was or that I was blushing (seems to be a habit.)
2 and a half hours of pure bliss. Pure, fashionable bliss.
I want the wardrobe, the stylist, the apartments and their figures. Awesome.
I can honestly say that I put that movie onto my Favourite Movie List.
I wont spoil it for anyone, but I can't wait for you to see it, so we can have a good banter!

When we walked out I was thoroughly surprised to see a huge feast of pastel coloured Appletizer, Peartizer and Grapetizer cupcakes -so cute, Sinful Sexy Brownies, heeeuuuge chocolate chip cookies, "Sexy donuts" and more!
Heaven.
A moment on the lips; forever on the hips. But oooh so good and yummy!

I had a wonderful time and what made it even better is that I took my sister with me. It's the first time she's come to a premier with me and she was amazed at the hype from the photographers to the decor. I had a good giggle when my sister lent over and said: "I haven't been to a movie in so long without my boyfriend that I nearly held your hand!"
She loved the goody bag, and it was a goody!!

Can I please have a weekend from the weekend??

Oh. My. God. What a weekend!!

My good "friend" Mr. Murphy's Law paid me a little visit. I was absolutely bursting for the loo. I needed to wee immediately and couldn't wait for the ladies queue to die down, so I ducked into the males. Instant relief turned into instant nightmare.
My door wouldn't open. I tried to turn the lock and nothing happened. It was completely jammed. I started banging on the door but no one came to my rescue. I eventually phoned Special K and told her I was stuck in the guys toilet.
It's murphy's law because I get irritated with woman who jump the queue and go straight into the mens etc etc and now this ONE time I do it, I get stuck.
I had to pass the key out of the small square window outside and then wait for them to come back inside and open the door from the outside. Thank God that worked.

On Saturday I went to Pocahontas' bridal shower. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. A sex toy show was the order of the afternoon. Now, in all honesty, I think I am pretty clued up when it comes to bedroom antics. I was shocked! I giggled and giggled like an immature school girl. I blushed different shades of red and scoffed at the different porno names for vibrators and the other sex toys you get.
I was shocked at some things because I didn't realise how naive I was with certain things. Half the time I was like this: "You want to put what, where?" "Noooo!!!!" "You have got to be joking" and "Eeeewww!!!"
But, the absolute classic blushing moment was when they handed out the forms saying: "Now, if you would like to order anything, you can do so by filling out this form."
I jump in saying: "Oooh goody! I'm going to order one or two things, for sure!"
I just never learn to keep my big mouth shut. The woman hadn't finished her sentence and added: "Try and keep it discreet so that no one knows whether you are ordering or not."
Shit.
Our poor Pocahontas ended up puking her lungs out, like any good bachelorette should and went to bed...poor girl!
But...mission accomplished! :-)

Yesterday was Mother's Day. My mom had decided she didn't want to do the usual "go-out-for-lunch" saga and then when the day came she wanted to know where we had booked.
Shit.
So we all hopped into my mom's car (I love it...it's a convertible and we put the roof down) and drove out to Hartebeespoort Dam. We stopped at a few restaurants on the way and surprise, surprise they were fully booked.
We landed up at a restaurant. No, it was a place promising a "Great Pub Lunch and Live Entertainment."
We were placed at a table that had a dirty tablecloth. We asked for a new one and had one taken off the table next to us. The logic was astounding.
We ordered a greek salad for the table and then had to ask for knives and forks, salad dressing and side plates. The drinks order was also fabulous. We sent the cidars back 3 times because they were wrong and then when we asked for glasses they never arrived.
An hour and a half later ( still without food) we called the manager over.
This German, I have one word to sum him up, besides the tight jeans, flicked blonde hair, shirt with the top 4 buttons undone and heavy German accent...the word is ARROGANT, sauntered over to our table.
"Ve are awfully sorry, ze service is vunderfullll, but ze kitschen is a little bit pressurized."
My dad responded and I quote. "No. The service is fucking atrocious! I think this place needs to be managed a little."
Good 'ol dad!
He was so arrogant that he didn't really listen all he said was: "Who is your vaiter?"
"This lady over here."
"Oh, but she is our best vaiter."
My family all looked at each other...Good grief..if she's the best, I shudder to think.
"Don't vorry...I know it is cheesy, but ve vill get you a round of drinks. Yes? Yes."
"That's fine, but please if we could have the food as soon as possible."
Instead of asking what we are drinking, he says to the 'vaiter' "Just bring me ze regular."
We never saw the drinks, just like we never saw the manager ever again.
Our food arrived and after asking for steak knives, I eventually cut into my smallest-piece-of-steak-I-have-ever-seen. It was as tough as anything. It was supposed to be medium rare.
My mom cut into her steak and it was completely raw inside. Not a little raw...it was bleeding.
My sister and dad bit into theirs and theirs was off. Completely rotten.
It is the first time the "Blondie" family has ever done this. We stood up and left.

We arrived at 16h30 at the Silver Orange (hoping and praying they would take us) and had the most delicious meal I have ever tasted! One word: Heaven. Ok, two: Orgasmic.

So that was my weekend. I need a weekend from the weekend.

Friends, Time and mom's.

So I had a moment of insanity yesterday when I was a little sensitive about seeing my longest friend, whom I hadn't seen in such a long time. We worked it out, it had been since December. Disgusting. I really need to put in more effort. We both do, but it was absolutely fantabulous! We giggled and gossiped and caught up with each others lives as if we had seen each other last week. You really have to treasure a friendship like that!
Besides, any friendship is strengthened by sharing Warm Chocolate Parcels. Even though I was ready to burst, I strangely managed to find space for these delicious, orgasmic parcels.

I couldn't believe how fast time had flown by. Days blur into weeks, weeks blur into months and before you know it we're all screaming "Happy New Year!!"In fact, didn't we just celebrate Christmas?
It's May.
*Just in case you haven't looked.* (Wow, I'm smart today, huh?)

Anyhoo...it's another grown-up weekend. I have a bridal shower tomorrow and I am actually looking forward to it.
It's also Mother's Day on Sunday and I'd like to have my mom over so that I can show her how great my cooking skills have come along. Look, it won't be awfully fancy but it will be rather special!!

Have a wonderful weekend and be good...hahaha - yeah right! x

I've eaten enough for a small country - yes I feel bad...in more ways than one.

I am so full I am worried that I am going to literally have to be rolled out of work or maybe rolled onto the balcony where a crane could air lift me down two storeys.

I forgot that this new restaurant contacted my team yesterday as they wanted to showcase their food for us (love my job). I had lunch before I got to work. A huge lunch. A huge chicken schnitzel (always too big, but I ate the entire thing) drowned in cheeze sauce, chips and salad. I did everything but lick the plate clean. Good to see I still have some class.
I think people at the restaurant must have thought I hadn't seen food for a while. Maybe they thought I was a Survivor contestant.

I arrived at work feeling very piggy-like. God I am uncomfortable. I am so relieved I actually have a long top on, I can now undo the button of my jeans.
I have so many stomach rolls I could open my own bakery.

Anyways, I get to work and my team is ravenous. They haven't forgotten and haven't eaten.
I couldn't be rude as this new restaurant laid out tray upon tray of food and then eagerly watched us for our first reaction.
I had to try everything. The Prego rolls, the haloumi, sticky chicken strips, bacon and cheese burgers, pizza slices and the traditional breasts. I got such delight in asking the one dude on my team to look at these breasts and then correct him by saying "No. On the plate!"
We all giggled. It was marvelously childish.
Please let me add that these were not cocktail party size, these were the real deal and we had a plate each.

I. am. so. full. I. don't. know. what. to. do. with. myself.

I need to burp. I can't. That's so annoying.
Maybe I should pace up and down, you know...to walk it off! I'm afraid the earth might shudder with each step though.
Maybe I should be bullimic (as an emergency.) OK, that's not something I should joke about, but seriously, these are the thoughts flying through my head.

Oh and guess what? I have a dinner (Aaaaahhh) with my very best friend ... it's a weird friendship...we hardly get to see each other (once every few months) but when we do it's like we saw each other yesterday. She is also my longest friend and knows me better than most.
It's been a very very long time and it's times like these, that I hate being female. No. Let me rephrase. I hate being a sensitive female. I haven't seen her in so long and we have hardly spoken either that I'm worried we're drifting apart. I'd be gutted.

Special K's wedding

The wedding was something out of a movie. Perfect in every way. She was the calmest bride ever, except when one of the bridesmaids had that Rimmel Instant Tan Shimmer on her hands and nearly tripped. Had she tripped she would have landed on her neatly laid out wedding dress.
Oh the dress! It was absolutely GORGEOUS!! It was LITERALLY made for her and I got all teary to see my friend in her wedding gown. I have realised that she is far too modest as far as her dressing for her figure goes. We (the bridesmaids) were gawking at her waist. I couldn't resist and eventually asked her: "Um.... where exactly do your organs go? There is no room for your spleen, liver, intestines etc..."
She had the tiniest waist I have ever seen in my life. Barbie size proportions with sexy hips and a sexy bum. I was not perving over my friend (I've just re-read this and it could get some men rather excited) but I was definitely astonished. Gisele Bunchen must watch out! Seriously.

What an incredible ceremony and the reception was unbelievable. Fairy Tale style. It was held at the Michaelangelo and everything was just perfect. The food was awesome, I tasted the best creme brulee EVER. Hahahah...I sound like I'm doing a review, don't I?

Now for the funny part... 2 of the 4 bridesmaids are pregnant. They are also identical twins , Nails and Twinkles, and 3 months apart. Nails is 7 months and Twinkles is 4 months.
8 people came up to me to congratulate me on my "pregnancy."
Say what?
I find it extremely disrespectful. I wouldn't ask ever, even if her water had just broken on the middle of the dance floor. It got so bad, even my man asked me if I wanted to change.
This one woman came straight up to, put her hands on my tummy and bent down with a "coochey coochey coo" and asked me ever so sweetly, "So are you due at the same time the twins are?"
My reply (ever so sweetly): "Nails is due in two months, Twinkles is due in 5 months and I'm not pregant, I'm obviously just fat!"
The look on her face was priceless. She immediately took her hands off my stomach as if I had just developed a contagious flesh eating disease, straightened up from talking to my stomach, mumbled an "Oh. Noooo you're not fat. Um.............Oh look, theres someone I haven't seen in years. Please excuse me!"
I have never felt so exhausted in my life...it's exhausting holding your stomach in for hours at a time.

The good thing, I think, was the fact that I caught Special K's bouquet and the man caught the Garter. Not rigged, oh so awesome and instant relief I didn't have to dance with some weird bachelor!
YAY!

The night was awesome... I'm so proud of my friend. She looked so gorgeous and happy and she's married a really wonderful guy, a gentleman! It was a fairytale!
